The Darwin Entertainment Centre's many spaces can be used for a wide variety of purposes, from stage spectaculars to conferences and conventions, small meetings and functions, art and trade exhibitions, rehearsals and classes. Variety and flexibility are key features of the Centre and our experienced staff are on hand to ensure the success of your event. The Darwin Entertainment Centre houses two theatres, the Playhouse and the Studio, as well as a Rehearsal Room, dressing rooms and other backstage facilities. Designed to house major visiting professional companies as well as local amateur groups, the Centre can accommodate almost any kind of performance, from stage musicals to intimate revues. |

| Playhouse | ||||||||||||
A traditional proscenium arch theatre, The Playhouse
seats between 985 and 1054 (depending on configuration)
and can be reduced in size to seat 412 in the stalls
only (using the running curtain under the dress circle).
The rake of the auditorium, good sight lines and superb
acoustics make every seat the best in the house.
No standing room is permitted. The Playhouse has an extensive stage area with a 14.4 metre opening, ample wing space, fly tower and orchestra pit, and is equipped with excellent sound, lighting, and audio visual facilities.

| Studio Theatre | ||||||||||||
A smaller, more intimate, and very flexible venue, the Studio seats 278 in theatre style or 180 in cabaret mode. Perfect for theatre, comedy and cabaret performances, the Studio is equipped with a portable stage and offers excellent sound and lighting equipment.

| Front of House and Box Office | ||||||||||||

The Centres box office is open from 10.00am-5.30pm on weekdays. With on-line ticketing and agencies throughout Darwin and Palmerston our reach across Darwin is comprehensive. Front of House services include ushering, merchandise sales, and function and bar staff. With extensive catering and event management experience we are able to cater for a variety of functions such as opening nights, post-show parties, launches etc.

| Local Hirers Subsidy | ||||||||||||
Funded by the
Darwin City Council and the Northern Territory Government,
the Local Hirers Subsidy enables local hirers
access to a considerable subsidy when using the Centre
for performances. To check whether you fulfil the
criteria for the Local Hirers Subsidy, download
the criteria below. Local hirers who do not meet the
LHS criteria should contact the Centre about their
proposed hire.

(such as musicals and plays) and end-of-year presentation
nights. School groups wishing to use the Centre and
to achieve a successful and smooth-running event should

Box Office is the premier ticketing agency in Darwin
and tickets all shows at the Centre, as well as
providing ticketing services to outside events and
ticket printing services.
