About The Dancers Company
The Dancers Company, The Australian Ballet’s regional touring group, comprises guest artists of The Australian Ballet and graduating students from The Australian Ballet School under the direction of Associate Artistic Director Danilo Radojevic. Founded in 1980 by then Artistic Director Marilyn Jones, The Dancers Company brings the highest quality dance productions to audiences and regions outside the major capital cities.

In 2009 The Dancers Company will present a programme of Ballets Russes inspired works featuring a classical gem, a whimsical poetic piece and a brand-new work created especially for this tour. This magnificent triple bill is a perfect introduction for newcomers to the beauty and energy of ballet and to the history of this art form in Australia.

Poems
Choreographer Robert Ray, inspired by several poems of Sir John Betjeman, has created a translation of the spoken word into beautiful dance. Set in England in the 1920s, Ray’s work is one of graceful ballet, of wit and uncluttered style that suits both the period and sentiment of the poems. Music by Jim Parker.

New work by Tim Harbour
Tim Harbour was a senior artist with The Australian Ballet when he first discovered a flair for choreography through Bodytorque, The Australian Ballet’s annual programme for emerging choreographers. Tim is now one of Australia’s hottest young choreographers and has recently worked with The Queensland Ballet, Cirque Vie and has upcoming commissions for West Australian Ballet, WAAPA and New York-based company Morphoses. In 2009 Tim will work with Australia’s dance stars of the future when he creates a new work for The Dancers Company.

The Nutcracker (Act II)
From one of the most famous ballets of all time, this piece centres on Clara and her Prince as they embark on a magical journey to the Kingdom of the Sweets. Beautiful sets and costumes danced to an unforgettable Tchaikovsky score make this a performance not to be missed!
