Choose between two programs of traditional
Indigenous dance; Program A, featuring performances
by Kenbi
Dancers and Djilpin Arts Dancers, or Program B,
featuring performances by Djilpin Arts Dancers and
One Mob Different Country.
Kenbi Dancers Representing the
cultural link to the Larrakia people, the Kenbi
Dancers are from Belyuen community across Darwin
harbour. The dances and music depict animals,
hunting and traditional family life. The chanting,
the clap sticks, the hum of the didg and the sound
of foot stamping will send shivers down your spine.
Djilpin Arts Dancers The
Djilpin Arts Dancers, from the Wugularr Community,
bring the soul of Arnhem Land to the stage. Their
songs and dances celebrate nyingiya, the spirit of
the people, and they perform like no other troupe.
They tell stories from the heart of their ancestral
lands, stories that have been handed down over the
generations.
One Mob Different Country One Mob Different Country is a group drawn
together from many different communities and areas, who perform dances from the Barunga
community. The group has performed around Darwin since 2000 and now undertakes around 100
appearances each year. Comprising men who are currently in prison, dancing together gives
the group the opportunity to stay in touch with their culture, while gaining confidence and
interacting with the broader community.
Due to unforseen circumstances, Red Flag Dancers
and Kindred Circus’ Pukatja
will no longer be part of this performance. |
