EVENT Information

Ash Grunwald and Christine Anu headline the first night of the 3rd annual Darwin Blues Festival at Gardens Amphitheatre 29th June 2012.

Multi-ARIA-nominated blues/roots troubadour extraordinaire Ash Grunwald’s primal concoction of elemental junkyard soul will be stomping through the speakers at the 2012 Darwin Blues Festival. A favourite on the festival circuit, Grunwald has introduced a whole new generation to blues and roots with his unique sliding stomping raw manifesto mixing electronica with the blues. His fifth studio album, Hot Mama Vibes, is neck-deep in the technological swamp of the 21st Century.

Christine Anu is one of Australia’s most successful indigenous performers. Beginning with her signature tune My Island Home back in 1995, Anu’s illustrious career now spans 2 decades, platinum albums and starring roles on screen and stage. When Anu takes to the stage festival-goers can expect a warm and intimate show with sublime vocals, rich rhythms and some spunky funk!

Supporting artists include Shaun Kirk, Australia’s Brad Pitt of Blues, The Rusty Datsuns, Matt Southon and Jnr Bowles.

Gates open 4:00pm and the event concludes at approximately 10:30pm. Christine Anu will perform from 8:00pm and Ash Grunwald from 9:00pm.
