The Darwin Entertainment Centre operates under the Darwin Performing Arts Centre, a company limited by guarantee and subject to the Corporations Law. A Board of Directors comprised of elected representatives and representatives nominated by Darwin City Council and the NT Government administer the company. Anyone interested in becoming more involved in the Centre is encouraged to join as a member – members enjoy voting rights at meetings and are able to nominate for election to the Board of Directors.

The Centre itself is owned by the Darwin City Council who share responsibility for maintaining the facility with the NT Government. The Darwin City Council and the Northern Territory Government through the Department of Community Development, Sport and Cultural Affairs fund the Centre on a triennial basis.
