Palm Sunday Concert, Christ Church Anglican
Cathedral 5:00pm Sunday 28th March
2010 |
 |
Darwin Chorale will present a concert of select sacred music which
foreshadows the events of Easter. The
motets are joyful in the spirit of Palm
Sunday, when Jesus rode on a donkey into
Jerusalem when the crowds chanted “Hosanna
to the Son of David, blessed is he that
comes in the name of the Lord.” Other pieces are devotional and uplifting to inspire a reflection of the
story of Easter. The major work being performed is the Requiem by Gabriel Faurè,
composer, teacher, pianist and organist.
Regarded as the master of French song, Faurè’s
individual approach to harmony and
modulation is linked to great melodic
invention, evident in the work being
performed on Palm Sunday. |

project Cooperblack whose various releases have garnered
critical acclaim and airplay - in 2007 he topped the
